After the success of the InSimu Diagnostic Competitions organized at the University of Debrecen and at the University of Pécs, now we are proud to announce that the Insimu Diagnostic Competition goes truly international on May 11th as the ‘Ace the Case’ diagnostic challenge at ICMS 2018 Sofia hosted 97 medical students forming 19 competing teams from various countries around the globe.
ICMS – the International Congress of Medical Sciences - is an international event that has been organized for 16 consecutive years and welcomes more than 500 participants every year. The congress gives the opportunity to ambitious students and young doctors from all over the world to present their research work in a set of different poster and oral sessions. This year 217 scientific projects were presented and med students could join 42 different hands-on workshops, welcoming 4 keynote lectures by world-renowned scientists and doctors.
ICMS also aims to inspire innovation, promote academic quality in medical education and mediate collaboration between medical students around the world so the idea of running a Diagnostic Competition just fit in perfectly.
Finding the correct diagnosis of a patient always requires teamwork. Doctors from different departments, nurses, administration and even the patient have to all cooperate to achieve the common goal: to help the patient heal. The objective of Ace the Case was to encourage medical students to think and work together.
There were 19 teams entering the competition and after competing 1-hour, the winning team could be announced. Congratulations Team Chubritsa!
"A truly wonderful app that not only teaches students to think, combine their knowledge and experience but also to take into consideration the most efficient diagnostic pathway and how every decision has an impact on our patients. Used in a clinical competition, the InSimu app undoubtedly taught students the importance of cooperation, discussion and careful planning, with the patient's best interest at heart."
A big thanks to all the competitors and the Association of Medical Students in Bulgaria-Sofia for this unique opportunity!
Stay tuned for the next competition.
