Learn More About InSimu Patient App

Can I use the app without internet connection?

In order to provide quality content and enhanced experience to our users, running the application requires a steady and fast internet connection.

Are there any other languages available besides English?

Currently, the app is only available in English, however, we are considering to have other language versions as well in the future.

How many patients are accessible in the app?

Once you start using the app, you'll get unlimited access to a pool of an infinite number of virtual patients. Just as in real life, however, it might occur that some of the patients will have the same disease, not necessarily having the same symptoms.

We are continuously developing new cases and fully covered specializations along with new game features to make our app exciting and also to enhance user experience.

How many cases do you currently have in your database?

Currently, we have 150 diseases covered from where the patients are selected.
New cases are in continuous development.

How many specializations does the app offer?

There are six fully covered specializations (Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Oncology, Neurology) and numerous smaller other ones (including headaches, gastrointestinal oncology, neurological emergency, and many more). The premium version comes with new game features that we do believe you will enjoy even more.

Is there a time limit to diagnose a patient?

In Classic mode, there is no time limit. However, the patient might die depending on their illness if the diagnosis is not selected in time. In other games modes, there’s a certain time restriction. In ‘Arcade’ mode it is connected to real time. In ‘Limited resources’ it is connected to the time of diagnostic tests.  
 

Can I order multiple diagnostic tests at a time?

Just as in real life, it is possible to order various diagnostic tests at the same time. There is a multi-order function in the app, go to the Examine screen and select the required examinations as shown in the below screenshots for iOS and Android platforms.

Order sheet on iOS: If you are using the app on iOS, you have another feature, called “Order sheet” and it helps you get the diagnosis quicker. Here’s how it works: Choose your desired examination, then tap on “Order sheet”.

Different examinations show slightly different values for the same parameter. Why?

Just as in real life, measuring the same parameter (pl. blood pressure; Glucose, serum, etc.) twice may give slightly different results due to measurement errors and the small, natural fluctuation of that value in reality.

How is the XP calculated?

InSimu’s aim is to teach you how to make a correct, evidence-based diagnosis in a cost- and time-effective way. XP points are calculated accordingly, considering the following:

  • The correctness of the diagnosis

  • Time and cost of the performed diagnostic tests compared to optimal

  • Missed tests

  • Harmful tests ordered

 

Where do you get your database from? Are they trusted sources?

The virtual patients of InSimu are the result of the simulation of diseases. The simulation of diseases is based on the special database and algorithm InSimu has created. InSimu’s team consists of Hungarian medical doctors with high expertise with both academic and clinical background and software developers.

The medical database is collected in very close collaboration with Hungarian clinicians and educators from peer-reviewed, world-renowned medical literature (e.g., UpToDate, Elsevier, McGraw Hill, Oxford University Press medical books, peer-reviewed publications). Guidelines of the diagnostic pathways advised in the app are based on international and U.S. guidelines specific for the diseases. These include, but are not limited to, Ferri's Clinical Advisor and www.uptodate.com.

What should I do when I can't find a test that I think is necessary?

In the process of implementing new diseases, we provide all diagnostic tests that are necessary for selecting the correct diagnoses. If you believe a test is unmissable for a specific case, feel free to share your opinion with us via support@insimu.com. Our medical team will review your suggestion.

Are there any images in the application?

InSimu app is a record based platform, therefore, we currently do not associate images with the medical records provided.

 

Will there be a treatment option available?

A simplified treatment option will be available in the near future.

What extra features are available with a Premium subscription?

The extra features available in the Premium subscription are

  • detailed feedback information after selecting your diagnosis (including the correct diagnosis, the optimal time and spending, and the list of any missed or harmful tests) to help you assess your level of knowledge compared to professional standards
  • access to various specializations to help you prepare specifically for your exams in gastroenterology or emergency medicine.

I see that currently a sale is going on. If I subscribe now, will my subscription fee increase at the end of the sale?

As long as you have an active subscription you will be charged the same subscription fee as your 1st purchase.

Does the Free Trial include full functionality?

The Free Trial feature is fully functional. For example, if you subscribe to the monthly plan you will gain access to every Premium feature for 3 days and your account will not be charged until the free trial period expires.

Will you charge my payment account when the Free Trial starts?

Your payment account will not be charged when the Free Trial starts, however, you need to have a valid payment method set up on your Apple iTunes/Google Play account. In order to verify it, Apple/Google may charge your account with a small amount, which will be refunded after a short period of time. The first actual payment will be charged only at the end of the free trial period if the subscription has not been cancelled by then.

The subscription screen shows that free trial is available, but the confirmation says that I will be charged right away. Why is that?

Each user is entitled to have only one free trial. Regardless of whether you have already used this opportunity the screen is still going to show the possibility of the free trial, however, the confirmation message will inform you that this time you will actually be charged for the subscription from the first day.

I paid for a subscription, but I still cannot access the Premium functions. What should I do?

In case you cannot access the Premium functions after subscription, then please go to the Settings menu and select ->Restore Purchases. Should you still experience the same problem, please contact the InSimu Support Team by tapping on Settings->About->Contact support as shown in the below screenshots for iOS and Android platforms.

Can I share the subscription between multiple devices?

A subscription is valid for all devices where you are logged in, independently of the operating system (i.e. it is possible to subscribe on iOS and use the app on an Android phone or vice versa), however, it can only be used on a single device at any time. To use the same account from multiple devices you have to login (sign up) on the first device using either your e-mail address, your Facebook account or Google account.

On the second device, or any other further devices, when starting the app you will be asked whether you are already an InSimu Member (“Click here” button at the bottom of the screen), you need to answer yes by tapping there and to log in using the same credentials you used on the first device.

Please note that you can only cancel or modify your subscription on the original platform you used for purchasing the subscription.

How can I change between/modify multiple subscription durations?

You can manage your subscription by opening the Settings menu and tapping on ->Manage Subscription.

How can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription if you go to the Settings->Manage Subscription screen.

Please note that your cancellation will come into effect at the end of the actual subscription period, until then you will still have access to the Premium features. If you do not cancel 24 hours before your renewal date, your subscription might renew.
