General

Can I use the app without an internet connection?

To provide quality content and enhanced experience to our users, running the application requires a steady and fast internet connection.

Are there any other languages available besides English?

Currently, the app is only available in English. However, we are considering to support other languages as well in the future.

How many patients are available in the app?

We have a pool of theoretically an infinite number of virtual patients. Just as in real life, patients may have the same disease, with different presenting symptoms. We have already simulated over 140 diseases.
Without the Premium subscription, however, you will have access to a limited number of patients.
We are continuously developing new cases and simulate new diseases to cover specializations as much as possible.

Is there a time limit to diagnose a patient?

In case the condition of a patient requires it, yes. This means that the patient might die depending on their illness if the diagnosis is not selected in time.

Can I order multiple diagnostic tests at a time?

Just as in real life, it is possible to order various diagnostic tests at the same time. If you order more tests at the same time, only the longest turnaround time will be added to your counter. 

For the multi-order function in the app, go in the desired test type (e.g., Labs) and tap on “Select” in the right upper corner. 

iOS:  If you are using the app on iOS, you have another feature called “Order sheet” for each test type (e.g., History, Physical, Labs, Imaging, Others).

How is the XP calculated?

XP points are calculated based on the following factors:

  • the correctness of the diagnosis
  • time and cost of the ordered tests compared to optimal
  • missed tests
  • harmful tests ordered

This way, the InSimu Patient app teaches you how to make a correct, evidence-based diagnosis in a cost and time-effective way.

How can I apply a promo code?

There are 2 ways how can apply a code.

  • Mobile app: Open the settings menu and choose the “Apply Promo Code” option.

 

Help in COVID-19

How does InSimu supports schools affected by COVID-19?

InSimu is offering its help in this crisis. We are providing 30 days of free InSimu Premium access to medical schools around the world to help them continue to offer clinical training through an innovative online e-learning platform during coronavirus closures. InSimu also published a guideline for educators on how they can rapidly and efficiently implement new remote clinical training methods.

How can my school have the 30 days free Premium access?

Ask any member of the faculty (e.g., dean, vice-dean of education, professors, IT, Library) to request it by contacting us at support@insimu.com.

My school has activated the free access, but I have an existing account. Do I have to create a new account with the university email address?

No, you do not need to create a new account. If the access is given based on the university email domain name, you can just register that as a secondary email address here. After you verify your university email, the verification link that you receive via email will lead you to a promo code that you need to apply in the InSimu app.

I couldn't find the promo code after activating the university access with university email. What can I do?

Please make sure that…

  1. you registered your university email address here. 
  2. after you clicked on the verification link, the promo code has been applied. (You can check your pending promo codes here.)
  3. you are logged in the app with your InSimu account, not necessarily with your secondary, university email.

 

Subscription

What extra features do I get with a Premium subscription?

The extra features available in the Premium subscription are:

  • The unlimited number of patients.
  • Detailed feedback information after selecting your diagnosis (including the correct diagnosis, optimal time and spending, and the list of any missed or harmful tests). This feedback helps you assess your knowledge compared to professional standards.
  • Weekly reports with extra details.
  • Access to various specializations.

If I subscribe now, will my subscription fee increase later?

As long as you have an active subscription, your subscription fee will not change. You will be charged the same fee as for your first purchase.

I paid for a subscription, but I still cannot access the Premium functions. What should I do?

In case you cannot access the Premium functions after subscription, please go to the Settings menu and select “Restore Purchases”. Should you still experience the same problem, please contact our Support team by tapping on Settings->About->Contact support in the InSImu Patient app.

Will you charge my payment account when the Free Trial starts?

Your payment account will not be charged when the Free Trial starts, however, you need to have a valid payment method set up on your Apple iTunes/Google Play account. In order to verify it, Apple/Google may charge your account with a small amount, which will be refunded after a short period of time. The first actual payment will be charged only at the end of the free trial period.

How can I change between/modify multiple subscription durations?

You can manage your subscription by opening the Settings menu on your phone and go to Manage Subscription.

Can I use the Premium features on all my devices at the same time?

You can enjoy your subscription on all your devices. It is also independent of the operating system (i.e., it is possible to subscribe to iOS and use the app on an Android phone or vice versa). However, you can only use it on a single device at any time. If you start a patient on your first device, you will see the same patient on your other devices.
On the second device or any other further devices, when starting the app, choose the “I have an account” option to log in with your existing account.
Please note that you can only cancel or modify your subscription on the original platform (Android, iOS, or PayPal) you used for purchasing the subscription.

If I subscribe on iOS, can I access the Premium mode on an Android device?

A subscription is valid for all devices where you are logged in, independently of the operating system (i.e. it is possible to subscribe on iOS and use the app on an Android phone or vice versa), however, it can only be used on a single device at any time. To use the same account from multiple devices you have to login (sign up) on the first device using either your e-mail address, your Facebook account or Google account.

On the second device or any other further devices, when starting the app, choose the ‘I have an account” option to log in with your existing account.

Please note that you can only cancel or modify your subscription on the original platform (Android, iOS, or PayPal) you used for purchasing the subscription.

Does the Free Trial include full functionality?

The Free Trial feature is fully functional, with all Premium features. If you subscribe to the yearly plan, your account will not be charged until the end of the free trial period.

The subscription screen shows that free trial is available, but the confirmation says that I will be charged right away. Why is that?

Each user is entitled to have only one free trial. Regardless of whether you have already used this opportunity the screen is still going to show the possibility of the free trial, however, the confirmation message will inform you that this time you will actually be charged for the subscription from the first day.

How can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription on the platform you subscribed. You go to the Settings->Manage Subscription screen for iOS and Android platforms. If you purchased your Premium Plan on PayPal, you can only cancel your subscription on PayPal.

Please note that your cancellation will come into effect at the end of the actual subscription period. Until then, you will still have access to the Premium features. If you do not cancel 24 hours before your renewal date, your subscription might renew.

Privacy

How do you protect my personal data?

The processing and collecting of personal data by InSimu is in harmony with the directly applicable laws of the European Union and the provisions of the Hungarian laws in effect.

My university purchased InSimu University. Can my educators see my performance in the app?

Your general activity in the app is visible only for you.

In the event of challenges, competitions, or courses organized in the InSimu Patient app by schools, universities, educators, societies, or other third-parties (hereinafter: Host), the Host will see the personal information about the User. The personal information seen by the Host may include the name and picture of the User provided by the User in the Profile, details on how the User solved the virtual patient cases (e.g., ordered diagnostic tests, the selected diagnoses, time to solve the cases, XP points received for the solution).  This information will not be visible for other users during or after the Challenge.

I would like to have my personal data deleted. What should I do?

You can ask us to delete your personal data if you contact us in the app via Settings->About->Contact Support. Send the Support Team a message with your request.

Is there a time limit to solve the cases?

In case the condition of a patient requires it, yes. This means that the patient might die depending on their illness if the diagnosis is not selected in time.

 

What should I do when I can’t find a test that I think is necessary?

In the process of implementing new diseases, we provide all diagnostic tests that are necessary for the diagnosis of the patients. If you want to suggest us new tests to include, feel free to share your opinion with us via support@insimu.com. Our medical team will review your suggestion. 

 

Will there be a treatment option available?

A simplified treatment option will be available in the near future.

Different examinations show slightlyt different values for the same parameter. Why?

Just as in real life, measuring the same parameter (e.g. blood pressure; Glucose, serum) twice may give slightly different results due to measurement errors and the small, natural fluctuation of that value in reality.

Where do you get the cases from? Are they trusted sources?

The virtual patients of InSimu are the result of the simulation of diseases. The simulation of diseases is based on the unique database and algorithm InSimu has created with medical experts.
The medical database includes peer-reviewed, world-renowned medical literature (e.g., UpToDate, Elsevier, McGraw Hill, Oxford University Press medical books, peer-reviewed publications). Guidelines of the diagnostic pathways advised in the app are based on international and U.S. guidelines.
Also, without the need for the completeness, two examples of guidelines used by InSimu:

Endocarditis:

Are there any images in the application?

InSimu app is a record based platform, therefore, we currently do not associate images with the medical records provided.

For Universities

What are the extra features for universities?

Presentable cases: Always have the right patient at hand in the class with InSimu.

Course creator: Select from the pre-made list of diagnostic scenarios or create your own course.

Homework: There may not be enough time on the lectures, seminars, and rotation for the students to practice on enough number of patients. Assign them any number of virtual patients for homework.

Exam-platform: Assess their real diagnostic thinking and preparedness. Select the virtual patients for the exam, and get the analytics report you are already familiar with.

Analytics: Get a complete in-depth analysis of your students’ diagnostic performance. Your digital InSimu assistant instructor provides you with thorough statistics of your student group and each student individually.

Which platform is the software available for institutions?

InSimu University has 2 components: the InSimu Patient app for the students and the Instructor Portal for educators.

Student app: the InSimu Patient app is available on any mobile devices (Android and iOS), and for courses created by medical schools the application is also available on desktop. Students can complete the assignments anywhere, anytime.

Instructor Portal: it is a web-based application that is accessible from any computers and mobile devices.
